Our Name Says
It All
Since
1994, The Partnership has been facilitating the creation of
public/private business relationships and endeavors that serve
to accelerate the deployment and market acceptance of Advanced
Transportation Technologies throughout Southern California.
It was in that year that our creators, the Southern
California Association of Governments (SCAG) and the South
Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) determined
that they needed an independent, non-profit corporation to
help in their joint objectives of developing and fostering
new technologies that make significant contributions to the
achievement of traffic congestion and mobile source emission
reduction goals.
Fully
45% of the needed emission reductions outlined in the 1997
Air Quality Management Plan rely on the development of new
technologies.
Although
there is much work still to be done, we are proud to say that
our efforts to date, along with those of the organizations,
projects and programs with which we are actively involved,
are starting to have an impact: Through public/private collaboration,
Southern California now has the most extensive infrastructure
for electric and natural gas vehicles in the country. Smart
Shuttle Transit systems are fine-tuning their operations and
are running profitably in many parts of the region. Advanced
Traveler Information is becoming increasingly available to
everyday commuters and more and more employers are accepting
the merits of telecommuting employees.
As we
move forward, we will continue to function as facilitator
between the public entities under the pressure of meeting
goals, and the private entities that can create new markets
by helping to meet them. We will continue in our efforts to:
- Facilitate
public/private sector networking and collaboration
- Address
market based barriers to deployment
- Coordinate
the creation and implementation of business and marketing
strategies
- Develop
and distribute educational materials and guide books
- Provide
valuable insights and direction to Advanced Transportation
Technology (ATT) Advisory Boards
- Coordinate
and manage ATT programs and field tests
- Provide
asset management and brokering services to public agencies
and businesses
We will
also continue to improve the service and support we provide
as the Coordinator of the Clean Cities Program for the SCAG
region, and expand the reach of TANN (Travel Advisory News
Network), the multi-media traveler information content and
programming network that we originated in 1998.
The Partnership
is available and ready to advise, assist or counsel on any
matters related to Advanced Transportation Technologies. Please
contact us if we can assist you in any way.
