Ecommute, The South Coast Telework Emissions Trading Pilot Program – A Program for Employers

The Partnership has been involved with numerous telecommuting projects and programs over the last few years, and now we are participating in the marketing of an innovative new Telecommuting Incentive Program affecting the entire Los Angeles Metropolitan Region.

Situation
Studies indicate that telecommuting is the most popular program an employer can offer employees to reduce vehicle trips. In fact, if given the opportunity to telecommute, more that eight in ten full-time workers actually do, and they telecommute an average of 3.4 days per month. However, the level of telecommuting has hovered around a meager 2% for the past two decades, and telecommuting is one of the least offered programs by employers. This program is designed to help change that.

The ecommute Pilot Program
Los Angeles is one of five metropolitan areas, including Denver, Houston, Philadelphia, and the District of Columbia, to be selected to participate in this innovative program that will measure the effectiveness of an emissions trading incentive for businesses to implement telework programs. SCAG, the Southern California Association of Governments, and The Partnership are administering and executing the program in Los Angeles and all program details are presented under the ecommute section of this site.
