In The Communications Revolution That Is Sweeping The Globe, You Either Lead, Follow Or Get Left By The Side Of The Road.

Telecommunications is considered an advanced transportation technology in that its increased application can have a significant influence in reducing traffic congestion and mobile source emissions. It is also the technology that will reinvent the way people live, work and entertain themselves.

Telecommunications technology encompasses a number of sub-technologies including: telecommunities, telecommuting, teleconferencing, teleservices, tele-education, telemedicine, teleshopping and telebanking. All use electronics to move information and/or pictures that allow work or transactions to be done from home, from a neighborhood work center or other work location, reducing the number of vehicle trips to accomplish the same purpose. The only barriers to market penetration are infrastructures permitting faster transmission (broadband/wireless/digital), and wider acceptance of telecommunications concepts.

Because so much excellent material regarding telecommunications exists on the Web, and because the technology is progressing so rapidly, our objective here is to briefly explain concepts.
